Introduction

BetterCV was founded with the dedicated purpose of helping people to produce better CVs and therefore maximise their invitations to interview.

All too often potential candidates who have the necessary experience for a position they have applied for do not get invited in for an interview simply because their CV did not reflect their suitability or was not even read at all.

It is widely believed that readers of CVs take approximately 30 seconds to view the relevant details and establish whether they will invite the candidate for an interview. This is true, however it should be considered that the 30 second bracket is only achieved after an initial 10 second scan. During those 10 seconds if the CV is too long, poorly structured or hard to read it may not progress to the next stage.
